Puzo estate wins compensation over The Godfather game

$1 million lawsuit filed by the deceased author's lawyers settled for undisclosed sum

The estate of Mario Puzo, author of The Godfather, has settled a USD 1 million lawsuit in relation to the videogame based on the movie adaptation of the book.

Lawyers representing the author's estate had sued Paramount Pictures last summer, as reported by Yahoo, claiming to be owed profits from the sales and rentals of the title The Godfather: The Game - which featured voice acting from much of the film's original cast.

While the studio denied it owed any of the proceeds to the Puzo estate, an out of court agreement was reached for an undisclosed sum.

"We think it's a terrific settlement," said the Puzo estate's attorney, Bert Fields. "This involved one of the most admired films of all time."
